Dear Subscriber First Name,

October is a time of pause and reflection for me, with my birthday towards the end of the month. Like Mel, this birthday marked passage into the thirties.

Turning thirty feels both grounding and clarifying. I’m thinking about small daily tweaks that will help mold this life into the one I see in my dreams. But more than that, I’m reflecting on all for which I’m grateful—the love I’ve been blessed to receive, the love I’ve been so happy to give, the places I’ve been, the ups and downs I’ve experienced. All have played a hand in the woman I am today.

Also clearer are the importance of my relationships and life’s moments. From celebrating friends’ pregnancies and births, to weddings and love in all shapes and forms, I am more present than I have ever been. I want to feel my friends’ babies wrap their little hands around my finger, to hold my parents’ soft wrinkling hands in my own, to take in the gorgeous sight of my favorite people laughing. I am here. I am open.

I’d also like to say thank you to our readers. When Helen, Janet, and Mel tapped me in 2019 to create this newsletter, little did I know just how much this experience would provide. Writing for you is a joy and privilege, and I’m so grateful :)

Eating: Ganjang Gejang - marinated raw crab. This Korean dish has been making its rounds on the internet. I had it for the first time earlier this week and just, wow. The sweetness of the marinade combined with the roe and tenderness of the crab… if you like seafood, this dish is a must-try.
