Dear Subscriber First Name, I’ve been daydreaming about the colors of fall foliage lately, and the pleasure in crisp sweater weather—the sky wispy and blue, leaves crunching beneath my feet. As summer gives way to autumn, we have the opportunity to take pause. As our minds refocus and adjust from a slower summer pace, I invite us all to consider how we might apply our productive energy in ways that truly elevate our lives. Especially as work ramps up and many students return to school, how might we look beyond just crossing items off our never-ending to-do lists? Often times our to-do lists have more to do with work or the needs of others versus our own. We forget or neglect to make time for ourselves. In an effort to mitigate this, I’ve been asking myself, what is the one thing that will make the biggest difference in my day? Sometimes, it’s taking a walk or going for a run. Other times, it’s drinking more water and eating well, calling someone dear, or reading a book. We are allowed to set our own standards, to fill our own cups. I promise that this doesn’t make you selfish (even if you are a parent or have a partner). Instead, this choice will in turn help you show up more fully.
