What are you grateful for lately?

When I ask myself this question during my current season of reflection and tiredness, I find myself returning to the basics. I turn to the basics in part, because that’s all for which I have energy, and also because the basics are foundational and worthy of acknowledgement.

Health, community, love, shelter, food—the basics of human survival and necessities to thrive. If I may add to this list: sunlight, outdoor walks and fresh air, access to clean drinking water, and rest.

Sharing food, drink, and laughter with family and friends last week was so rejuvenating! Not to mention, catching up on much-needed R&R. So grateful this year’s holiday was possible and much more relaxed than last year’s.

One more thing I’d like to add to the list of basics—laughter! I’m talking about deep chuckles, booming guffaws, and silently-rocking-back-and-forth-while-clutching-your-stomach. Laughter keeps our spirits bright. I hope something makes you laugh your butt off this week :)
