Dear Subscriber First Name, This month at AsianBossGirl, we’re considering what it takes to “bloom”. What does it take to grow, take up space, and arrive as a better version of oneself, even through pain and self-doubt? Depending where you’re located in the world, it’s been more than a year since things shut down due to the pandemic and life took a wild turn. Sometimes I forget to pause and honor last year’s experiences—from that new shade of loneliness; easing into taking walks again in spite of the possibility of being targeted; reengaging with therapy and investing in my mental health; the layoffs and rehires (yes, both plural); each precious and precarious outdoor hangout with friends; getting to see my aging parents again. Sharing these experiences with you, I recall the consistent uncertainty and the toll it took on every aspect of my being. My thoughts. Emotions. Appetite and digestion. Sleep. I recall the year’s darkness, and I also viscerally remember the joy, the light. I see the hope and resilience it took to arrive where I am today, stronger, calmer, and more self-aware. Though we’re not out of this reality just yet, I invite you to pause and name your experiences from the year of the pandemic. What did you experience?
