As I sip my coffee, inhaling wafts of a pumpkin chai candle, the sun shines brightly in LA. It’s Fall, it’s actually sort of chilly, and I’m already pumped for Christmas.

With 45 days left in the year, have you thought about how you’d like things to go? Lately, I’ve been thinking about the idea that every day is a chance to design our desired lives. Each day is our life in micro, after all.

Knowing the lead up to the holidays is work-heavy, I’m considering how I’ll protect my boundaries and wellbeing. When I’m overwhelmed or can foresee an unrealistic workload coming up, I’ll be sure to advocate for myself and ask for support. If my health wanes, I’ll let my team know that I need to log off early. Learning to do this took time and practice, but it’s so worth it!

When I’m not working, I plan to read more books, exercise, and prioritize time with my family while I’m in town.

Being disciplined in how work takes shape in our lives helps to ensure that we have the energy and time to live and experience other things—whether you freelance or have a hobby, or want to spend more time with family and friends. Sometimes it seems super tricky, but we have the power to structure our lives more than we may realize.

Reasons include language barriers, socioeconomic status, and stigma. Let this be your sign to schedule regular screenings, especially for breast cancer.

Simu Liu to star, and Saweetie to perform on Saturday Night Live on 11/20. This is the first time in SNL’s history that both the host and musical guest are of Asian descent.

Reading: The Wake Up: Closing the Gap Between Good Intentions and Real Change by Michelle MiJung Kim. With her debut book, Kim offers “sustainable frameworks that guide us how to think, approach, and be in the [diversity and inclusion] journey as thoughtfully and powerfully as possible”.

Watching: No Time to Die on Amazon Prime - This movie marks Daniel Craig’s fifth and final installment in his fifteen-year career as James Bond, and also introduces Lashana Lynch as the first Black female 007. I watched a lot of Bond movies growing up (Sean Connery, anyone?) and love Craig as Bond, so I’m excited to watch this one!

Eating: Pecan Paht Pie by the Korean Vegan - this incredible concoction of red bean laden with pecan caught my eye on Instagram and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. This just may find its way to our Thanksgiving table this year!
